Inbound links or backlinks to your website are invaluable no matter what anyone says. But links to your website are not what gets you #1 on Google initially. In the process of building your webpage, you must really keep the google bots in mind all during the design. Yes the site is designed for aesthetics for humans to view. But I have said it before and I will say it again, if you have the prettiest site in the world that is not search bot friendly it is not likely that you will EVER get any significant traffic from search engines.
The most important thing about your website is the structure, form, content, and code, NOT what the site looks like. While it may be easier to close sales with a slick looking website, without some serious consideration about what search bots are looking for, your site will not rank well in the Google ever changing index.
Getting free organic traffic to your website is very important to your bottom line, because there is a huge difference between getting free organic traffic from search engines and paying per click.
Everything you need to get high rankings on Google can be found here.
The most important thing you need is a webpage that targets one long tail keyword, or even one main keyword, or keyword phrase. In order to compete with the #1 google ranking websites, you must take that keyword phrase that you choose, and distribute that across ALL of the html elements on your site. DO not leave out any html elements and do not fail to include your keywords in your meta tags for title, keywords, and desrciption, If anyone is not familiar with all the html elements, feel free to ask via comment and I will detail and explain these more fully.
This SEO blog is not directed towards beginners, as there is tons of data on the internet about the basics of SEO. But I am willing to post anything here as it relates to SEO to help those in need. So far most of the visitors here who have comments are folks trying to get a link here, which is fine to some extant, and will be tolerated as long as the comments are in good taste, they will be approved. But I can assure you that going around adding your link in comments is not really the best way to go about getting high quality inbound links.
